Winter Cocktails

It's cold, stores are crowded and we are still recovering from Thanksgiving so we need a drink! Try these yummy, wintery cocktails for your next party or heck, try one tonight. I mean, you have to taste before you share with guests, right?

CLASSIC SPIKED EGGNOG:

Ingredients:

  • 1 carton (32 oz) eggnog
  • 6 oz brandy, bourbon or rum
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • Optional: Cinnamon stick for garnish

Directions:

  • In a large pitcher (40-ounce or more), mix eggnog and spirits. Pour into glasses and garnish with sprinkles of cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Add optional cinnamon stick for garnish

 

IRISH COFFEE:

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons maple syrup, to taste
  • 6 oz hot fresh brewed coffee
  • Whipped Cream, for topping

Directions:

  • Pour the whiskey and 1 teaspoon maple syrup into a heat-safe mug. Pour in a splash of the coffee and stir with a spoon until the maple syrup dissolves into the coffee.
  • Pour in the remainder of the coffee. Taste, and stir in additional maple syrup if you prefer your drink sweeter.
  • Top with whipped cream and serve warm!

 

CRANBERRY PALOMA:

Ingredients:

  • Granulated sugar, for rim
  • 1 grapefruit wedge
  • Ice
  • 2.5 oz cranberry juice cocktail
  • 2 oz blano or reposado tequila
  • 1.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • Soda water, to top off
  • Grapefruit twist and fresh cranberries, for garnish

Directions:

  • Pour some sugar onto a small plate. Rub one side of a Collins glass with grapefruit wedge, then dip into sugar, turning to coat.
  • Fill prepared glass with ice. Add cranberry juice cocktail, tequila, and grapefruit juice. Top off with club soda and gently stir with a bar spoon. Garnish with grapefruit twist and cranberries.
