Fall Cocktails

Fall is mostly here and while we might miss warm summer nights a tiny bit we welcome Autumn with open arms! Who doesn't love to feel cozy?!? Here are some of our favorite fall drinkies. Email us with your favorite info@thechicassembly.com (we are real people and we will really reply).

 

MULLED WINE:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large orange
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 6 whole clove
  • 6 all spice berries
  • 6 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick, plus 4 for garnish (optional)
  • 1 bottle (3 cups) fruity red wine
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brandy

Directions:

  • With a fine grater, zest, then juice the orange
  • With the flat side of a knife, press firmly on the cardamom pods to bruise them
  • In a large pot (not aluminum), combine zest, juice, cardamom, cloves, allspice, peppercorns, cinnamon, wine, sugar, and brandy. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low; simmer until flavors have melded, about 30 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve; garnish with cinnamon stick, if desired. Serve immediately.

HOT TODDY:

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus 2 thinly sliced lemon rounds for serving
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves

Directions:

  • Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a small saucepan or tea kettle. Remove from heat and divide between two mugs
  • Divide bourbon, honey, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, and cloves between mugs. Let stand 5 minutes, then stir and serve, garnished with lemon rounds

CRANBERRY ORANGE WHISKEY SOUR:

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz bourbon whiskey
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • ½ cup unsweetened cranberry juice
  • ¼ cup agave syrup
  • fresh cranberries (for garnish)
  • fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients to a mixing glass or pitcher and stir well
  • Pour cocktail ice and add ice, fresh cranberries and a sprig of rosemary for garnish
